HOD Visual Arts

We are looking for an effective HOD Visual Arts to deliver the visual arts programme to all levels of NCEA.  This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for a talented teacher to lead colleagues through curriculum innovation and development and bring an integrated approach to the teaching of this subject and is keen to promote collaboration across learning areas.

We require a permanent full-time enthusiastic and innovative teacher to join our Visual Arts Department for 2022. Applicants are required to be familiar with the New Zealand Curriculum, all levels of NCEA and have a current practising certificate.

You need to be currently registered and qualified as a NZ teacher and be able to build strong relationships with staff and students.

Forte ITM – Voice Teacher

Fixed term, Part time, 12.5hours per week with opportunity to increase starting Term 1 2022

The Forte Unit of Itinerant Teachers of Music (based at Hagley College) provide students with high quality music tuition within participating schools across the Canterbury Region.

We seek a qualified, highly effective and inspiring Vocal Teacher.

Applicants must have:

  • skills and experience in teaching a wide range of vocal styles;
  • a good understanding of the Music curriculum (Years 9-13);
  • the ability to assist with NCEA performance preparation and assessment;
  • The ability to direct both large and small vocal ensembles would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility within repertoire and a willingness to work with the varying requirements of a diverse range of music departments are expected.

The successful applicant needs to have current NZ teacher registration (preferred) or a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT).

A current driver’s license and own transport are also essential for travelling between allocated schools (a mileage allowance will be paid).

All Itinerant Music Teachers regularly engage in collaborative team meetings with a focus on Professional development including a current focus on Tikanga and te reo Māori.

Gateway Leader (Teacher or Support Staff)

Fixed term, part-time 8 hours per week

  • Can you develop new relationships between the school, Industry Training providers and employers?
  • Can you enable students to explore future pathways and to gain skills and credits towards NCEA in their chosen career path?
  • We are looking for a person to support the delivery of the Gateway programme with demonstrated empathy with students to join our Careers department. A commitment to culturally responsive and sensitivity awareness of issues of race, gender, age and ability is required.
  • The successful applicant would take up the position at the beginning of 2022.
