Study Requirements

Year 9 and Year 10

As a Year 9 or 10 student you will take 7 compulsory subjects: English, Physical Education, Science, Social Sciences, Maths, Health and Te Reo Māori.

You will also get to choose 6 subjects over the year from a wide range of optional subjects in the Kete Wana programme. Kete Wana subjects include languages, arts, and technology as well as some specialised programmes from other curriculum areas.


Year 11

A Year 11 programme consists of 20 hours per week of learning across 6 subjects as well as 4 hours of Hauora, our mentoring and well-being programme.  Your programme must include English or Te Reo Māori, Maths and one Science subject.


Year 12

Year 12’s need to study at least 20 hours per week and a maximum of 24 hours per week. English or Te Reo Māori is compulsory but you can choose the remainder of your programme.  Part-time programmes can be taken only with individual authorisation.


Year 13

Year 13’s need to study at least 20 hours per week and a maximum of 24 hours per week. You are able to choose your programme, however, keep in mind UE Approved subjects if you are considering going to tertiary study.

Adult

Adults may choose a full-time or part time programme (maximum study of 5 subjects/20hours per week). You must have, or be studying towards, minimum literacy and numeracy requirements.
