Careers Administrator

Part-time (25 hours per week) permanent position, terms time only 

The position:

Hagley College is a designated character state secondary school. It is known for its unique, creative and innovative educational solutions for students of many backgrounds. Hagley College is a whole city resource and has developed initiatives particularly targeting the educational needs of new immigrants in general, and refugees in particular; both adult and adolescents.

We are seeking an permanent, part time, Careers Assistant who will play a role in the organisation of our College. This energetic, personable and efficient Assistant will help the Careers Team to achieve their  key outcomes and to ensure and increase student exploration of career pathways that lead to effective transitions into, through and beyond secondary school.  Support the Career team in making the career competency development skills more explicit for students.

Animation and Digital Design Teacher

  • In a unique secondary school located in central Christchurch opposite Hagley Park
  • Full-time or part time permanent position
  • Potential for paid programme development time during 2017 prior to taking up the teaching position at the beginning of 2018
  • Art, design and digital technologies background essential

The position:

Hagley is a thriving secondary college in the centre of the Christchurch city. We’re seeking an enthusiastic and creative person to join us as we move into a major redevelopment over the next few years. We’re aiming to create a design studio hub where you will be an active contributor. The hub will be centred on a creative design process with linked spaces shared across integrated learning areas including art, design and technology.

Whether you’re teacher trained, in the training process, or considering teacher training, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for the right person who’s keen to contribute to Hagley’s current innovative animation programmes, as well as set up new programmes in animation and digital design both at junior and senior levels. We already have a successful animation school we’d like to expand too.

We’re keen to make this position work for the right person, including the possibility of salaried development time this year prior to taking up teaching in the programme in 2018.

Key skills:

This person will:

  • Have an art based background
  • Have experience with a range of digital media tool sets, which are likely to include Photoshop, Animate (Flash), After Effects, Premiere Pro, Maya, etc
  • Have an independent, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Value a collaborative working style
