Van Asch Deaf Education Centre

We are a group of students enrolled at Van Asch Deaf Education Centre, but based at Hagley in a satellite classroom.

We have a mutually beneficial relationship with our partner school Hagley College and operate as ‘A School within a School’.

We are able to join in with all that Hagley offers. Some school subjects are provided in the Satellite Classroom by van Asch teachers. When van Asch students join in with Hagley class programmes a Teacher of the Deaf or Learning Assistant helps provide access and support to the classroom programme.

We embrace and appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Hagley Community. Our learning is enhanced by our interactions within the mainstream school then we return to Room 303 for more pre and post learning.
