Prizegiving
Around the time when our senior students finish classes for the year we hold our annual prizegiving. Awards are given out for various things that make a big contribution to the life of our kura.
Two of the awards that a focused on academic achievement are selected by using the following results and criteria.
1st in Subject and Dux Criteria
1st in Subject is awarded to the person who has gained the best results over the school year up to the 1st Friday in term 4. This considers Achievement and Unit Standards, School exam grades and any other related learning tasks completed in the year in a specific class. Attendance and participation in class is also looked at if students cannot be separated.
Dux for the school will be determined by the following criteria and results when the SLT and Year 13 Year Advisors meet early in Term 4.
- Results up to the first Friday of term 4
- Students must be taking 4 or more UE courses in the year.
- Highest number of Level 3 credits at Excellence, then Merit then Achieved will be counted.
- The GPA (Grade Point Average) from all internals up until the first Friday of Term 4.
- The GPA of results from School Exams
- The number of 1st in Subject awards
Consideration of results from any previous UE courses not taken in this calendar year and any University STAR Courses that have been undertaken.
