The Hagley Preschool is a unique community based early childhood centre, situated in the grounds of Hagley Community College.
Hagley Preschool caters for up to 15 children from birth to 2 years and up to 27 children from 2 to 5 years. A maximum 42 children attend at any one time.
We have a ratio of staff to children that is higher than the minimum required and the preschool is committed to ensuring that the teachers are well qualified and registered.
Our experienced teachers recognise the importance of learning through play and offer children a ‘self-choice” programme with a full range of indoor and outdoor activities. The programme follows the guidelines of Te Whaariki, the early childhood curriculum.
The primary goal of the Pre-School portfolio is to provide the opportunity for young children to participate in early childhood education and to build for them the foundation for on-going learning and development.
Bookings are essential and all booked times must be paid for. Some families will be eligible for WINZ subsidies if attending at least 3 hours a week. The Preschool also offers the government 20 early childcare hours for children aged 3 years and over.
