Hagley Year 11 School of Science
HSS NCEA Level 1
Overall course aim: Provide students with an integrated and contextualised approach to learning science in Year 11 where the students will have input into the contexts in which they learn. Students will take 11 Physical Science and 11 Human Biology. There may be an opportunity for students to also be kept together as a group for their English class as well. Students successful in this package course will be able to continue with sciences into Y12 and Y13. Students interested in careers in the sciences would be well set up to pursue those goals with this package course. These careers could be engineering, health sciences, radiography, geology, or any other science major at polytech or university.
Credits: 11SCP at least 20 credits with 4 internal. 11HBI at least 20 credits with 8 internal.
Entry requirements: 15/25 in the Science Department Year 11 Science test and an interview or by HOD discretion.
