Business Studies and Computer Skills

Business Studies enables students to understand the place of business as an integral part of the local and global society and economy. It promotes an understanding of business as a productive activity. Students develop an understanding of their role in the economy and of how economic decisions affect individuals and communities.

Pathways

Business Studies introduces students to the complexities of the world of business and how business is organised, financed and operated. It engenders an interest in the ability to work effectively within that environment and how that can contribute to students’ own future economic well-being, particularly as globalisation and technological change, change and shape our lives at an increasing pace. Students gain an understanding of the rights, roles and responsibility of business and people within New Zealand’s and global economies. They learn of the processes involved in recording, classifying, analysing and interpreting financial information which can be applied within
a range of business contexts.
