This is a practical design course that combines creativity with digital technology to communicate ideas in visual terms. Learn impressive graphic techniques and explore a variety of different design genres and conventions, including such favourites as CD covers, music and film posters, character creation for graphic novels, game design graphics and surreal photomontage.
Major course components:
Understanding design
• Research different graphic design genres and conventions.
• Analyse and reconstruct examples of good design practice.
• Gain knowledge and understanding of design language and principles.
Design practice
• Learn how to use Photoshop tools and processes to create
professional looking graphic work.
• Explore a variety of different forms, processes and techniques of design
practice and apply them to your own work.
• Learn how to work through the requirements of a design brief by
generating, developing and resolving ideas with creativity and confidence.
• Produce a folio of original work, based on chosen genres and subject
matter, that reflects your strengths and interests.
