School of Fashion student Sophie Pascoe has recently returned from the IPC Swimming World Champs in Glasgow. Of the six events she competed in, she came away with medals in all six, three gold (100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m medley), two bronze (100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke) and one silver (50m freestyle).

Sophie says, “the competition is getting tougher with the build up to Rio next year.” She won by a fingernail tip in the 100m freestyle. The intensity of her already rigorous training will be stepping up, with a focus on “quality not quantity.”

22 year old Sophie already manages a busy schedule, juggling trainings twice a day, multiple events, rest, nutrition, photoshoots and now this year, the Hagley School of Fashion.

Sophie says she has always had an interest in fashion. The course at Hagley has been very accommodating and flexible with her schedule and other commitments. She says, “it’s important for me to balance my life with things other than swimming.” She has loved meeting new people and the diversity of Hagley students.

We wish Sophie all the best for her time at Hagley and for her training leading up to the 2016 Olympics!
