Courses in this learning area are all about intervention by design: the
use of practical and intellectual resources to develop products that address
needs and realise opportunities. Adaptation and innovation are at the heart
of practical design courses. Quality outcomes result from practices that are informed, critical, and creative. Each of these courses makes enterprising
use of their own particular knowledge and skills.

Pathways
Students develop a broad technological literacy that will equip them
to participate in society as informed citizens and can give them access
to technology-related careers. They learn practical skills as they develop
models, products, and systems. As students develop increasing skills and understandings, they lay a foundation for lifelong enjoyment of and participation in a variety of technological areas. Career opportunities include apprenticeships, further training at tertiary institutions, self employment or a range of business opportunities.
