Programmes
The Learning Communities collection of courses has been designed to recognize the diversity of our population and the different ways that people like
to learn. While mixing in classes of different age, gender, culture and ability can be hugely rewarding, so too can be the experience of learning as part of a community of people who have some shared experiences and perspectives on the world and/or shared learning needs. This can be an excellent way of ‘getting started’, of building confidence, of getting the right learning support you need, and of tailoring course content to meet the learning requirements of specific groups in our society – such as in the ‘Parents Supporting Learning’ course, designed specifically for parents of secondary school students.
Pathways
In Learning Communities there is no right reason to learn and no right
outcomes from your learning. ‘Learning Communities’ offers participants
an opportunity to build skills and knowledge in a variety of applied and relevant ways. Learning outcomes may include being a part of an ongoing community
of learning; increased confidence; staircasing to a new level by going on to full
or part time secondary or tertiary education; applying your learning to practical
or creative everyday life at home and work; discovering new personal and
career pathways.
