Food and food preparation goes beyond the basic human need for fuel to encompass a passion, a career path and a means to interact and gain pleasure through all of the senses. Whether or not you are a casual diner, an emergent gourmet cook, or an individual on a quest for a career as a top chef, everyone has an opinion about food and food service. These courses teach you how to successfully create a wide range of ethnic dishes with a focus on good nutrition and making healthy food choices.

Pathways
Pathways in food service and preparation are numerous and varied. A good first step is to enrol in the full time level 3 food and hospitality course to raise your skill level and expose you to industry based training and authentic opportunities to learn under real time pressures. Hagley has a commercially run cafe on site,
a fully trained chef /tutor and a purpose built training kitchen. From this foundation students will be able to advance to second year level at CPIT
or embark directly into an industry based apprenticeship.
